Liturgical Ministries

navngivetWelcome! Liturgical ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your baptismal call of service to one another. Our liturgies should utilize the talents and gifts that God has given this community to the fullest extent. Whether participation is through “behind the scenes” preparation and planning or through a public role of service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations. Please prayerfully consider joining one of these ministries.

If you or your family is interested in serving in any ministry, please contact the parish office.

All ministers age 18 and older are required to complete the Protecting God's Children program to promote a safe environment for our children.

Training sessions will be held for Sacristan, Altar Server and Extra-Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

Instructions for the remaining ministries are available here.

Ministry Scheduling Program - This web based program automatically creates a schedule based on each volunteer's preferred mass time and availability. You will use this program to request substitutes, change your preferred mass time and enter dates that you are unavailable to volunteer.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers offer service to God and the community by assisting the priest during mass. The ministry is open to all ages of the parish.  Interested youth who have made their First Communion and who are in the 5th grade or older are welcome. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year.

Greeters

Greeters welcome parishioners and guests as they enter the church and are the Ambassadors of the church.  They are primarily the first people that a parishioner or guest sees as they enter the church.  This ministry is open to anyone who loves people and interacting with them. In many instances our Greeters are entire families. Our Greeter Ministers range in age from 1 to 105.

Lectors

Proclaimers of the Word give human voice to the Word of God in the assembly at Mass.  Candidates for this ministry should have strong verbal and communication skills, be comfortable reading in front of a large group of people, and possess the willingness to commit oneself to the time, effort and study required for intelligent and sensitive proclaimation of the scriptures. Lectoring is truly proclaiming the Word, effecting the presence of Christ within the worshipping assembly, and finally, to enabling a consciousness of how God's Word is calling each of us to His service and to serving God's people.  Lector Guidebook

Gift Bearers

The purpose of the Gift Bearers is to bring to the altar the bread, wine and gifts at each Mass.  This is an ideal ministry for families, as it gets your children involved with the Liturgy very early.  All ages, however, are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Ushers

Ushers help ensure a smoothly running church service and minister to people in a variety of practical ways.  Duties usually include assisting people with special needs, collecting the offering, and distributing the bulletin.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

This liturgical ministry is responsible for distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at the Masses, to those homebound and to those in Senior Living or in the hospital. Training in the specifics of the ministry is provided throughout the year. If needed, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion may serve at any Mass they attend.
