NEWS FROM OUR SISTER PARISH IN HAITI
Dear St. Cecilia Parishioners,
I cannot help thanking you, all the benefactors, for your dedication to the church of Haiti. Without you it would have been really impossible to accomplish any outreach ministry.
The donations were initially granted to 3 parishes: Poteau, Bayonnais and Labranle which, at that time, were served by one priest. At the present time, Bishop Yves Marie PEAN decided to confer the poorest parishes to my responsibility. I have a team of two Oblate fathers and six Missionaries of Charity Sisters. We continue to hope that our sister parish in the United States will continue to come to our aid. Due to both chronic poverty and limited resources, 3 more villages, Dolan, Ti-Dolan and Kayon, benefited from your donations too. I would like to build a dining room, a computer lab, and implement an irrigation system for our peasants too, in time. In 2007 we have received from St. Cecilia Ch. $9,441.30. This money has helped with Church & Liturgy, Catechists, Schools, Orphans, Center Formation for women, & School Canteen. Rev. Venel Suffrard

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HELP SPECIAL OLYMPICS BY RECYCLING
The St. Cecilia Knights of Columbus Council is now actively supporting local area Special Olympics through an inkjet, laserjet and cell phone recycling program. You can help by bringing in your used or unusable ink/toner cartridges and cell phones and depositing them in the Recycling Kiosk to the left of the Narthex door as you leave church (under the coat rack). All proceeds are sent directly to Special Olympics in our local area. Get your friends to donate too!

How To Pray As A Catholic - When should I pray? We can pray anytime, of course, since God is always listening. Many Catholics even say little “mini-prayers” throughout the day as they go about their business, such as “Thank you, Lord,” or “Jesus, help me.” But over the centuries believers have also developed habits of praying at certain hours because they found it helped them to recognize God and seek His will at important junctures of the day. Many people, for example, dedicate the day to God as soon as they wake up. Asking God’s blessing is an important way to begin meals and recognize our dependence on His provision. At bedtime, many Catholics review the day as it closes, examine their consciences, and say a prayer of confession and contrition.

We Wish To Recognize And Thank all our advertisers who advertise on our bulletin; please consider them when in need of products and/or services.

Would you like to support St. John Neumann School without any extra out-of-pocket money? There is a simple way to achieve this; begin purchasing Scrip in the back of church starting today! Scrip are gift certificates that are purchased by the school at a discount and sold to you at the retail cost. You pay no extra money, they are dollar for dollar exchange. If our parishioners began buying scrip, in addition to our SJN families, the school would be able to raise a large amount of money to help continue the Catholic education of the children in your parish. Please check in the back of church with the person selling Scrip or contact Beth Warnecke at 288-7437 with questions. You can now order your script on-line.

A few ways you can provide some extra income for St. Cecilia or St. John Neumann.

  • Drop your paper in the recycle bin located by Main Street in front of church. Note: Please do not put card board into this dumpster. NOTE: there is also a bin at our parish school, St. John Neumann, in Maryville. More Information.
  • Order on-line at Just Catholic; they rebate 25% of the profits from your purchase back to the parish. St. Cecilia's parish ID number is 9324 -- our parish school, St. John Neumann, also has an ID number - 10813.
  • SCRIP - you can now order your scrip on-line.
