We suggest you slow down and enjoy the Lent content on

During Lent, we focus on prayer, fasting & almsgiving.

We also encourage you to add one or more of these opportunities to enhance your prayer, fasting & almsgiving:

  • Worship - Attend Ash Wednesday and some Daily Masses. 
  • Penance - Prepare for the Resurrection of the Lord in your heart by attending an area penance service.
  • Service - Give generously during this season by getting involved in a service project.
  • Devotion - Take time each day / week to focus by subscribing to a daily/weekly devotion or attending an in-person devotion.
  • Formation - Learn about your faith with fellow parishioners or independently

Worship

Ash Wednesday - Masses are at 8:00 am & 6:30 pm.

Daily Mass -  Mondays @ 6:30 pm   and  Tues - Fri @ 8:00 am

 

 Penance Services

Reconciliation is available during Lent at St. Cecilia:

6:00 pm on:    Ash Wednesday   &   Mondays

5:30 pm on:    Fridays

There are many other penance services in the area:  Area Penance Schedule - 2024 schedule not yet available

 

Service Projects 

CRS Rice Bowl - Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and malnutrition, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all.  Enjoy videos, reflections and recipes on the website.

40 Days for Life -Join in the Spring Campaign as we pray for an end to abortion at the facility in Granite City and around the world. 

 

Devotions - In Person

1st Saturday Devotion - every 1st Saturday of the month - DETAILS

Stations of the Cross - every Friday at 6:00 pm  (Reconciliation at 5:30 pm)

3rd Sunday Rosary - Pray with us 30 minutes before the Masses on the Saturday & Sunday of the 3rd Sunday of the month.
